This week’s featured tea (10% off all week): Lychee Black

Yep, time for another 4:00 Friday. This week we will feature Lychee Black, a Chinese black (red) tea from Fujian province. This is a mellow black tea aromatized with the juice of lychee fruit. The result is a naturally sweet rosy aroma. There is a nice balance between the flavor of the tea and the lychee with a nice reddish amber cup. As usual, we’ll be playing with different water temperatures and infusion times for a variety of results.

Been BUSY here at the shop. We so appreciate all of the wonderful support. We seriously have the best bunch of customers imaginable.

Hope to see you tonight!

Thanks for checking in.

Name: Robert Crespin

What do you do? Configuration Management Analyst

Why tea? Because it is delicious and great for your mind and spirit

How did you get into it? When I purchased my first Chinese tea pot

Which teas you have been into lately? Kemun is my favorite for black tea. Trying the Japanese greens now

Do you have a perfect tea scenario? In a Tao garden drinking Jade green oolong out of a yixing teapot

Okay, short and sweet; thanks, Robert! (Robert was one of our earliest regulars, and we really appreciate that)

Stay tuned for the upcoming 4 o’clock Friday featured tea selection!

We hope all is well with all of you. Thanks for checking in.

This week’s featured tea (10% off all week): Earl Grey Imperial

Time for another 4 o’clock Friday featuring a perennial shop favorite. This tea is wonderfully aromatic, scented with first-quality oil of bergamot. It has a nice balance between the flavor of the tea and the scent. It’s less overpowering than many typical Earl Grey selections, perhaps a bit more refined. Plus, we can brew it hot for a cold day like today. Maybe we’ll even compare it with another tea or two during our exploration. It’s always a good time. Hope to see you later!

Thanks for checking in.

P.s. All books in the shop are also 10% off!

If you’re in the reading mood, here is a neat write up on our little shop at the San Diego Foodstuff blog.

Still quite chilly here these days (by our standards). Lots of hot tea! In fact, it’s time for another cup.

Look out for tomorrow’s featured tea announcement, and perhaps we’ll see you for 4:00 Friday!

Thanks for checking in!

Great post today at Grain Edit, one of my favorite design-related blogs. Today’s post features a selection of packaging designs for the Criterion Collection. It’s definitely worth checking out. Nothing like cold weather, a hot cup of tea, and a great film. Enjoy!

This week’s featured tea (10% off all week): Organic Gold Monkey

Yep, it’s Friday! Time for another gathering of tea friends to sample our newly featured tea of the week. This week’s tea is Organic Gold Monkey, a first-harvest Chinese black tea. This tea is a handcrafted combination of mainly leaf buds along with young leaves. It infuses to a deep red-amber with a flavor reminiscent of sweet potato or butternut squash. Come taste it and tell us what you think. We always love hearing the different flavor interpretations people experience. What will yours be? After a break due to the holiday, we are excited to be back with another 4:00 Friday!
