Masala Chai

Just wanted to let you know these teas are back in stock. We have some very dedicated Indian tea lovers, so the Assams and Masala Chai will be creating a few smiles this week. The Irish Breakfast is our most robust black tea, really made for milk, and excellent for those who like their tea to bring the strength. Lots of former coffee drinkers have taken to this tea and become full converts. If you’re looking to switch, or just broaden your possibilities, this is one to check out.

Working diligently on the website, finalizing things, getting the details ironed out, and we have the languishing blog to prove it! We apologize for the delay in new posts, but stay tuned for Halcyon Tea 2.0, complete with consistent (but not annoyingly so) e-newsletters, and other new developments. We are very excited about all that lies ahead. Thanks so much for joining us and being a part of this journey! We really appreciate it. More soon…

As always, thanks for checking in.

I love stuff like this. This is a fun little promotional short created by the Empire Tea Bureau in 1941. Of course, these tea tips are for British-style preparation, but the basic principles presented are definitely applicable across the tea spectrum. Plus, it’s just a fun bit of nostalgia and makes me want a cup of tea. With the colder weather (for July) we’ve had, a hot cup of English-style tea sounds really good right now!

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We have some great summer events being planned, so stay tuned! Teaware has been flying off the shelves, so expect to see some new wares coming soon. As a reminder, if you’re interested, please do follow us on Facebook as we update daily. You’ll find us here.

Thanks so much for checking in!

Sencha Shan Izumi is 10% off this week, and we have a small batch of Shincha arriving today if all goes according to plan. We are very happy about getting this tea, and it’s one that Japanese tea lovers will want to check out for sure. We should be posting pictures and tasting notes soon. In the meantime, we are enjoying the eight new teas that arrived last week. Nothing like being a tea merchant in springtime!

Thanks so much for checking in.

The new first-flush Darjeeling is going quickly! If you’re a fan, be sure to stop in and have a look at this current favorite. We are eagerly awaiting the second-flush teas, and may also order another first-flush selection, so stay tuned.

Our newest first-flush Darjeeling just arrived yesterday, and it is everything we hoped for and more. Hailing from the respected Thurbo Estate, this offering has classic first-flush brightness, lovely soft floral notes, and a crisp finish with mellow muscatel flavor. This tea actually had me giddy as I walked down the block for an oatmeal apricot cookie (a wonderful accompaniment) at Grant’s. I cupped it when it first arrived and was instantly happy with the tea. The smell of the wet leaf was lively with mild fruit notes. The liquor was bright and clear with a sweet floral aroma. Later I made a pot (15 oz.) with 3 tsp. infused at 200° F for 3 minutes… absolutely delicious. I’ve had a fondness for the Thurbo Estate teas for several years now, so I am very happy to have one in the shop! Come by and check it out.

Lot’s of new things in the works, new teas on the way, so stay tuned.

Thanks for checking in.

We will also sample some new early harvest Dragonwells we are considering for the list, along with a few other interesting teas.

Hope to see you here! Thanks for checking in.
